Keno was created in 200 before Christ by the Chinese military leader, Cheung Leung who utilized this game as a monetary resource for his failing army. The city of Cheung was waging a war, and after a bit of time seemed to be facing country wide famine with the excessive drop in supplies. Cheung Leung had to develop a rapid fix for the economic adversity and to acquire money for his military. He therefore designed the game we now know as keno and it was a wonderful success.
Keno once was referred to as the White Pigeon Game, due to the fact that the winning numbers were delivered by pigeons from larger cities to the lesser towns. The lotto ‘Keno’ was brought to America in the 1800s by Chinese immigrants who came to the US for jobs. In those times, Keno was played with one hundred and twenty numbers.
Today, Keno is generally played with eighty numbers in just about all of American land based casinos as well as net casinos. Keno is largely enjoyed today because of the laid back nature of gambling the game and the simple fact that there are little skills required to enjoy Keno. Regardless of the reality that the odds of winning are terrible, there is always the chance that you could win quite large with very little gaming investment.
Keno is enjoyed with 80 numbers and twenty numbers are drawn each game. Players of Keno can select from 2 to 10 numbers and bet on them, whatever amount they are able to. The pay out of Keno is dependent on the bets made and the matching of numbers.
Keno grew in popularity in the United States near the close of the 19th century when the Chinese characters were replaced with more familiar, US numbers. Lotteries were not covered under the legalization of gaming in the state of Nevada in Nineteen Thirty One. The casinos renamed the ‘Chinese lotto’ to ‘horse race keno’ utilizing the concept that the numbers are horses and you want your horses to come in. When a law passed that levied a tax on off track gambling, casinos swiftly adjusted the name to ‘Keno’.
